Boheme di G. Puccini ARENA DI VERONA 89° FESTIVAL LIRICO
LA BOHEME (Opera in 4 acts - Music by G. Puccini - Libretto by L. Illica and G. Giacosa)
The novel "Scènes de la vie de Bohème" by H. Murger inspired both Leoncavallo and Puccini for the composition of an opera with the same subject. While the former composer was the first to begin to work at his piece, it was Puccini who completed his composition earlier. It took nevertheless two years before he was satisfied with the libretto. But in the end it was his opera that obtained more success -obscuring his rival- thanks to his art of moving the spectators, that in Bohème reaches its climax. La Bohème continues still today to move the spectators all over the world since his first performance in 1895 at the Teatro Regio in Turin under the direction of Arturo Toscanini.
